a small milestone
now, i know, i know. a 5k is most defintely NOT a 64-mile jay challenge. but, that being said, there was a small goal achieved on this blustery sunday. you see, while the rest of you were most definitely out on your bikes, pedaling against the wind and making sure your quads were being forged into iron aginst the coming tide of Jay Peak, i ran a 5k in portland. and, for me, i ran it well. never mind the fact that i was passed by no fewer than three people who could have been my father, never mind the fact that i was dusted by no fewer than a dozen girls who were really fun to watch go by me - i did it in 22 minutes and 50 seconds. huge goal, HUGE goal for me. if you're going to measure fatness versus time, i set some kind of major record. my fatness remians, but the time is there, forever, as well.
i hope you all had a formidable, daunting sunday ride. if you didn't, i own you all. and, i've learned that a nice soak in a hot tub is a very, very nice way to settle your differences your mind and body might have following an exercise of this nature. i strongly suggest we invest in one of them portable jobbies for the challenge.
